Evaluation for soundtrack and audio

Guardians of the Galaxy (Dance Off clip)

Within my first clip which was the final fighting scene where the guardians face off with Ronan within a dance off. The techniques I used within this specific clip were dubbing using lip syncing through using Garage band software which was a really effective way of recording the dialogue through lip syncing due to having the clip being shown whilst recording the dialogue whilst the clip was muted so that it make it easier to keep in time with the scene visually, I also used sourced sound effects by a sound effect website called freesound.org which give me as much variety of sound effects to apply a profession and clean audio input to the scene so the it doesn't sound out of place towards the audience to separate the scene to it's appropriate mood. However, within this area I would improve the slight change in volume within some sound effect within the clip to apply a hyper realistic feel towards the scenes relevant to make the audience feel more engaged with the movie and seem more impactful at the time. Another technique I used would also include the music and sound track I used through out the clip so that it would have the similar effect within the actual scene which was both sourced which applied tension and intensity to the scene which emphasised the mood of danger and motivation depending on the scene such as the first moment of the scene where Ronan is talking about the end and destruction of the planet I used sourced music from youtube and converted it into a mp3 file which applied tension and suspense toward the audience's heart to portray the end, this was then broken by one of the iconic sound rack of the movie which applies a symbolic effect of the character of Peter Quill out off no where singing and having a dance off to apply a comedic mood and atmosphere for the audience's view due to it being so out of place but also very good timing to fade the suspense that the characters and audience felt. Personally, i felt that this was quite successful due to it have a variety of chosen techniques to suit the clips emotion and impactful state. However, if I had more time to improve it I would focus more within the experimentation and manipulation of the volume to have more symbolic meaning and layer the importance of the music and sound effect to impact the audience more to suit the mood and atmosphere within it's relevant state.

Deadpool Clip

Within the second clip which was based on Deadpool and his X-men friends to face of with Francis to save his girl and take revenge for what happened to him to get his powers. In this clip I used the techniques which were based entirely of sound effects, this included foley sound effect which are basically home made sound effect which were clapping, punches and banging sound effect which felt mostly realistic however if I were to improve it I would use volume and layering other sound effects to make things which based within the explosions and combat to be effective and distinctive to apply the intensity and mood towards the audience. I also used some sourced sound effect from the freesound.org website similar to the first clip to make sure I had enough sound based techniques within my final production due to within the first clip I used I felt didn't use much sound effects within throughout the clip especially within the beginning of the scene. Personally, I overall felt that this was quite successful due to the sound effect were mostly clean and in sync to the clip which was also due the Garage band software which allowed me to easily cut and apply to material while watching the clip in detail to make sure it fluent with the clip.

proposal

The two scenes I will be using will be based more within the marvel universe such as Deadpool  clip: 2 girls one punch which is 59 seconds long and consist of dialogue, non-diegetic music, sound effect such as punches, super hero landing, hitting metal, clapping and texting, burning noise, the clip was also based on a scene Directed by Tim Miller, Also the Guardians of the Galaxy dance off scene which is 3:37 second sequence where they base the scene with non- diegetic music material within the movies iconic soundtracks based, also through out they use . The sound effect which ill be focusing on within this clip would be low sound of walking on gravel, slow motion explosion crumbling, flying projecties,  locking in sound, screaming out in pain, whooshing sound(foley). The dialogue within the clips they use a small amount of synchronous techniques within the beginning where Ronan was about to destroy the Nova Core until Peter Quill started singing within the back of the camera to suggest his presence. There was also another scene when Ronan realises that it was just a distraction and the sound effect in the background the rockets moon destroyer charging up within the background which also linked up to the technique hyper real where they made it seem impactful towards the audience as if the sound effects actually happening behind them. The use of iconic sound track was using the technique of emotional realism where it symbolises his mother which was how the film beginning scene was set with the death of his mother. The director of the film was James Gunn.

The locations I'll be using for recording would be based within college grounds in room 209 due to having a calm silent room so that theres no background sound within the recordings or just not relevant material to corrupt the recording. The equipment I would be using are mainly based on software which ill be using a laptop for recording more better mic compared to the desktop to have clarity, within the software aspect I'm going to use garage band to record, apply sound effect and import the clip so that I could lipsink to the dialogue.

Daredevil Season 2 trailer 2

Within this workshop I experimented on ways to produce sound effect to contrast with the visual display through using my own sound effect instead of just using sourced content, Personally through using foley sound effects I felt that these were mostly to develop a more realistic and practical way of producing a sound which is right for the clip and scene you would wish to apply.

Amazing spider man music input editing

Within this workshop I experimented with using sourced and made in garage band music soundtrack to produce a effect as a diegetic and non-diegetic techniques. Within my sourced sound track I used a source from youtube Cash Cash- Take me home so suggest a romantic scene within the amazing spider man 2 scene where Peter Parker is meeting up with Gwen Stacey after they broke up and there trying to just hang out as friends. I based most of the sound track within the beginning before the first section of dialogue starts to suggest the first time for awhile that they met up he just had a moment when he saw Gwen on the other side of the road, which was very effective as a experiment. This then developed into the made soundtrack where I used the electric piano to experiment with harmonising with the movement and actions of the two characters which was quite successful as a first attempt how I would like to experiment with more instruments and effects so that it could also suggest mood and movement together just through the music and the beat.

Throughout the editing process I tried to keep the style of the scene to stay humorous but still have the situation to be seen as a key scene within the movie. How I adapted it was changing around the voices to emphasis to the comedic material and sustain the marvel style of production. Within the background I made sure that the sound was that high in volume compared to the dialogue so that they can both be distinctive sounds but still equally impactful towards the audience so that it it present a awkward but also use the synchronous technique where you can see that Gamora is the source of the sound effect while being strangled by Drax.

Assignment

The god father
sound effect
emotional realism which is a technique which uses sound to build up the thought process so that the audience would be able to understand what the character is thinking without the use of functional dialogue. An example of this begins within 3:38 where the sound effect of a train which symbolises him getting himself ready to kill the two people he's with to carry out his families decisions, the effect then gradually build up in volume until it surrounds the scene till it becomes a main priority of the technique within the audience's perspective. Which then link to Hyper-real which is using sound which exaggerates and provide a huge impact into the scene to make it seem realistic. A example within the related clip of 'The Godfather' would be within 4:27 second in the video clip which suggest that the scene would use hyper real sound effects such as the train effect increasing in volume within the background to represent how the character within the toilet scene is readying himself to kill the two men within the other room which help develop the tension and support the audience to know what happening and sympathise with the character and his future action which would link towards emotional realism techniques through telling the audience the build up of the next future scene without using dialogue and prop within the scene.

This would also link to the beach scene within the film 'Saving Private Ryan' where they consistently use is same music within the sound bed which blends in within multiple scenes throughout the scenario, which suggest the use of a sound bridge which is using music or sound effects to link scenes and clips together. This links in with 'The GodFather' by using sound to have a huge impact within the scene through using the music to represent the soldiers feelings and symbolising their lives flashing before eyes to present the scenario and the atmosphere of the battlefield. This is suggested throughout the clips where it uses impactful music to suggest both despair on the battlefield and show that the solider are loosing hope by the slow and tense music to support the audience to lead up to that idea.

Shawshank Redemption
The music which is suggested to contribute to a score which is a term to describe a films soundtrack which is composed by one person who's name for this particular score would be Thomas Newman. The use of music present on it's own a warm and influential mood and tone towards the related clip within the movie 'Shaw shank Redemption', through it's use of non-diegetic and establishing sound factor which is basically a use of sound which is edited in after to apply effects which the characters within the movie can't hear due to being only used for the purpose of supporting the audience to keep up-to-date with the situation within the scene without ruining the moment through using either hyper realistic. functional dialogue or synchronous techniques which is basically use of sound which can be seen produced by a object or character within the scene. Which then links to non-synchronous which is sound that is produced outside the clip to get a feel to the surrounding and allow the audience to predict the scene within the next clip of the film. A example of using established sound would be within 3:30 seconds in where the two main characters finding each other again after they both got out of prison and reaching the point of the scene where they meet within a beach and from a mid shot gradually becomes a establishing shot with the help of using the establishing sound which gradually uses a fading effect within the sound where it reduces the volume which harmonises with the use of zooming out of the scene, this would suggest to the audience relief that the two character finally found each other outside of the prison walls.

Guardians of the Galaxy uses non-diegectic and emotional realism wit their use of music so that it portrays the character of Peter Quill's mum from the beginning scene's which showed how she was very important to him and the key aspect of their relationship was through listening to her favourite music but then died but gave him a present, this suggest towards the audience that every time we hear the music within both diegetic from when in his ship show the music being played from his stereo. But mostly non- diegetic techniques which is more edited into the specified clips to make a effect within the atmosphere and present the emotion within the scene to amplify what the characters thinking which then links to the technique emotional realism. This is suggested the clip when Peter Quill and Gamora are alone within 1:49 to 2:26 where they use diegetic technique to create the mood to the scene to support the audience to know whats happening within the scene. The music symbolises how important his mother was to him but also the time when he was taken into the outside of earths atmosphere and then link the music throughout the film to suggest how they use the music. This links to Shawshank Redemption by how they used sound within the background of the scene however using non- diegetic sound to support the audience to know the film has a positive outcome to the two prison friends meet together on a beach to start a new life which link also to emotional realism.
