Edgar wright creative ideas was influenced by dawn of the dead
within his movie 'shaun of the dead' which was produced as a parody of the film produced within the 1978. The film 'hot fuzz' was influenced by the american cop movie such as Bad boys 2 and Point Break which are quite similar since they show two cops who are fighting together to fight crime with explosions in the background and bad ass stunts which hot fuzz portrays as a parody by referencing them in the movie store but also using a quick scene from point break where the bad guys running away and one of the main cops trys to shoot him however hesitates while the bad guy stares at him as a way of manipulating his feeling and then the cop instead shot up to the sky. Hot Fuzz presents this in the scene where Danny has chance to stop his killer dad by shooting him however due to his relation status and only family he cant shoot him so he shoots up to a sky.
Compared to Hot Fuzz the techniques within shaun of the dead was that they use similar characters from one movie and use them as different oles within the other movie for example the main characters Simon Pegg in hot fuzz as the highly skilled officer sent to a village to be promoted an is a workaholic and gradually discovers to suppress his work ethic and learn how to have fun by his new partner who similar actor who was Shaun in Shaun of the dead's partner or roommate Nick Frost, he uses this character to seem quite relaxed and only thinks of life as a massive fun ride so that it maintains in both films shaun fun and interesting personality which helps shaun find his way throughout both films. But also show how they use Bill Nighy who used as the hated step father in shaun of the dead and then within hot fuzz is presented as the met chief inspector in hot fuzz. What Wright uses this actor for in his films are the characters which have that type of high authority who's seems strict and hated but then seen as the nice innocent guy in shaun of the dead who dies in the car after telling the truth of how much he cares about shaun. The setting used
in all films are the pub where for all movie such as shaun of the dead, hot fuzz and at worlds end where they use the pub as a social chilling scene where they show the meaning of fun and gradually leaks out into other scenes to show how the character are easing out of stress situations. Also, these conventions are common within At worlds end such as similar main characters of simon Pegg's and Nick Frost, however they change the position of the character drastically to suggest how clever Edgar wright is to change the personality of the characters so that he make the audience compare the character an actors to the other film. A example of this is that Simon Pegg's character in other films they use him as the guys who is the sensible or the low life who needs to change to his life and Nick Frost they use him as the guy who is the obstacle to Simon Pegg. But in the latest add on to the trilogy they swap roles from Simons sensible to his more childish living in the past personality, then from Danny's childish unorganised self to a formal ,high payed and sensible character. But similarly they show Bill Nighy as the leader for blanks which present how they still show him as some kind of authority which would manipulate the character of simon Pegg's and Nick Frost's lives. This suggests that edgar wright uses the position of his actor in a way that would link all the films together and still have a different storyline which is quite a unique and creative signature in his work within the use of character section.
The way edgar wright uses camera angles in his scenes to present a individual signature visually to the editing is by from his scene to scene quick pan so that he presents the fast pace to the audience but also presents the speed of the movement by applying sound effects such as whoosh and zoom to present the pace of the scene an how intense the situation is which could seen as a humour input and a way to apply a dramatic entity within the editing intense of just the storyline. The main lighting show which link all the film together is the quite soft lighting within all the pub scenes which suggest a positive enviroment for the character to relax and have social time within the outside of the pub which is alot going along from robots and zombies to a village secret cult and and farmers wife with guns. The use of dialogue is quite impressive how he makes it so detailed on when and how suttle he places links and references of the other films but also the films that he's producing a paradies in the films. For example in hot fuzz Nick frost's character is on a mission to ease up he stress from Simon Pegg's characters workaholic ways by watching movies which he's pick to classic american crime movies point break and Bad Boys 2. Within the camera techniques he uses in all his films are quick cutting so that he give key aspects of the scenes so that it gives the audience short clip which give them enough information about the situation and not waste film time on slow waste clips which arent't important to the events.
